I'm pretty sure the Japanese don't see us roundeye as particularly fragile.

@Jolly said in Did Lockdown Work?: @taiwan_girl said in Did Lockdown Work?: @Jolly said in Did Lockdown Work?: @taiwan_girl said in Did Lockdown Work?: @Jolly said in Did Lockdown Work?: Now, as for COVID response...In California, one of the most liberal states in the union, 60% of people have told COVID tracers to piss up a rope. Americans, even for their own good, do not like to be told what to do. Exactly. Sometimes, the good of society has to come before the good of the individual. Personally, I have a lot of trouble understanding why people cannot understand that. I don't. But then, I'm one of those pesky Americans... And that is what makes the US so great, but can also be why sometimes that it fails. Absolutely. Now, there is a problem with the concept of duty in today's American society, but that, too, is a personal thing... I asked my grandfather, who was in his early 30's when WWII broke out, about the the nation unified as never before in the war effort. Like a lot of men in the depression he had bounced around taking work here and there as he was able. Once the war ramped up he had found work in an Aluminum plant in Southern California. He snorted derisively and said something derogatory about America that I didn't understand, other than knowing he felt there was plenty of selfishness still going on that he witnessed.

@George-K said in OK, Boomer.: "Baby boomers are experiencing a sharper drop in cognitive function as they age, relative to previous generations." How much of a drop? Two percent? 45 percent?

I wonder how share prices in the drug are doing after this somewhat premature ejaculation of information.

When the local people finally get enough, it will slow down. When people start running over protesters trying to stop their vehicles, when they use deadly force to defend themselves and their neighbors from protesters and when the elected officials realize their jobs are on the line, the protesters will be restricted to where and what they should have been restricted to in the first place....Permits and designated areas. Turn violent, do not obtain a permit or stray from your area? To jail you go. No bond. Jail.

I'm also a fan of his podcast. In fact, just yesterday I listened to his conversation with Kathryn Paige Harden.

There are some horrible companies out there. My SIL was let go whilst being treated for a serious illness, and then again when she asked for a reference as she was adopting a baby as they didn't want to give her the maternity leave.
